Diamond Anniversary
Robert (Bob) Cooper Haden and Beverly Eve Atkinson were married Aug. 29, 1964 at the Carswell Air Force Base Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas. Beverly and her family arrived in Fort Worth in time for her to start her high school sophomore year after living three years in Japan when her Army Officer father was assigned to Fort Worth. Bob and Bev shared an English class at Paschal High and Bob ultimately developed enough nerve to ask her out on their first date in March of 1958 and they became a couple. The day following the Homecoming dance their senior year Beverly left with her family to Heidelberg, Germany as her father was transferred there. Beverly returned to start her freshman year of college at North Texas State University that fall and Bob and Bev were able to pick up where they left off. Each summer Bev would return to Germany and return that fall to continue her studies. After completing their college educations, Bev at NTSU and Bob at University of Texas, they married and moved to Sulphur, La. where Bev taught elementary school and Bob worked at PPG Industries as a Chemical Engineer.
They have two sons: Robert Brian Haden, wife Lisa, daughter Bryn of Katy, Texas and James Russell Haden, wife Rajani, daughter Avani of Dallas, Texas. They are planning an anniversary trip this fall.
